Fanny J
The voice of contemporary zouk, from Cayenne to the biggest French stages.
The story
Fanny Jacques-André-Coquin · born October 6, 1987 in Cayenne, Guyana
Fanny Jacques-André-Coquin grew up in Cayenne, Guyana, where she stood out at a very young age during local singing competitions. Spotted by the Guyanese producer Warren, at nineteen she recorded a first album which would shake up the zouk landscape.
In 2007, “Vous les hommes” appeared on the Section Zouk label before being reissued by Warner Music. The single “Ancrée à ton port” reached 12th place in the official French chart and became one of the most widely distributed zouk tracks of the decade. “Je l'aime”, “Sé taw” followed, then a shower of awards: three Lindors in 2008, the Afro-Caribbean Arts Trophy, and the SACEM Prize for best female performer in 2009.
“Secrets de femme” (2010) confirms with “Okay” and “Bay Love” alongside Admiral T, while the singer records the French adaptation of “Whatcha Say” with Jason Derulo. In 2013, “Maldòn”, a trio with Lynnsha and Louisy Joseph, entered the French top 15. “Mes vérités” was released in 2014: a third, more intimate album, written with an open heart.
After a withdrawal announced in 2015, Fanny J returned in 2017 with “Toi et moi”, then followed by singles – “Ma conscience”, “Il était une fois”, “Le gars d'une autre”, “Cordialement”, “Être aimée”, “Amour et Haine”. In March 2025, she became the first zouk artist to fill Accor Arena alone, bringing together nearly 18,000 people for her J Tour.
“Zouk is my musical mother tongue. I write it in the present tense. » Fanny J
